Unit Memorabilia now for sale!

As part of the Join-in-Jamboree programme, as well as the Unit's fundraising efforts, we're selling a wide range of memorabilia, including mugs, pens, bags-for-life, trolley tokens, and badges. If you would like to receive further details of these, please email the Unit team.

NOTE: If you are a member of the West Mercia Scout County, (e.g. Beaver Scout, Scout, Explorer, Networker, Leader or Helper), you can wear the Unit's 'Join-in-Jamboree' badge from now until next year. Our aim is to try and get everyone in the county wearing a badge, to get everyone involved in the Jamboree experience. Badges cost £2.50 each, and can be purchased from your District reprasentatives from the unit, or from any member of the Leadership team. All monies raised will help us towards our £72,000 fundraising target!

Second Unit Camp at Beaudesert Park - Jue

Our second unit camp took place at Beaudesert earlier this month. The focus for the weekend was to improve our camp craft skills (especially Patrol cooking) as well as pioneering - a skill that we'll all have to be top notch at for the Jamboree, as we'll likely be asked ot construct a number of items whilst we're there.

The gateway design that Mark put together was a great success - a parabolic gateway that forms a W and M (for West Mercia), as well as a crown (the county emblem that is found on our County badge). The opther focus for ther weekend was to undertake some form of service project on the campsite. Each Patrol took on a different challenge - one doing forestry work on the Guide site, another laying a new path to the climbing tower. The other two groups undertook much neededwork in Camp Fire Hollow (tidying the steps and removing years' worth of ash from the base), and cleaning up the Reflections Memorial Garden. Everyone put alot of effort in to their respective tasks, and the site Warden was extremely pleased. We were rewarded with a night's worth of camp fees for free.

On the Sunday morning we had a crack at Jacob's Ladder and crate stacking, before being issued with our Unit 81 Badges, and a quick debrief of the weekend.

Selco Family Fun Day...a huge success!

Thanks to Mark, the manager at Selco Builders Merchants in Minworth, we were able to take part in their family fun day. Craig (Assistant Unit Leader) organised the day with his collegues, on behalf of the Jamboree Unit and Acorns Childrens Hospice. With the sun shining and Silkie the Clown there to entertain us all, over half of the Unit was present to join in with the fundraising. There was a constant queue for the car and van wash, the bouncy castle was popular with the youngsters (and the Unit members!) and a number of children were seen running around with their faces painted! It was great to see the unit getting together once again. We'll let you know how we got on soon! Well done to everyone for their efforts on the day and promoting the Jamboree cause.

June 2010: Just over a year to go!...

With the next payment deadline approaching fast, we've got a number of large scale fundraising events coming up.. the SELCO Family Fun Day, Body Shop Party and Beer Festival (Over 18's only). See the fundraising page for more details.

Merchandising is now under production...'bags for life', pens, badges and mugs have now been ordered. As soon as we have them we'll let you know how you can get your hands on them.

The Unit Leaders will be atending the next Unit Leaders' Weekend in a few weeks' time, so we should have many more details for you on the Jamboree and the forthcoming preperations.

May 2010: Fundraising under way...

With the Jamboree drawing nearer it's great to hear that members of the unit are getting on well with their fundraising. Remember if you've got an event lined up some time soon let CHris know and it can be added to the fundraising page of the site.

The official logo for the unit is now finalised and badges are under production. As soon as we receive them we'll be letting you know how you can get your hands on them! Start spreading the word around the County. Our County Commisioner, Paul, is hoping we can get everyone in the County to be wearing one by the time we head off to Sweden! So start putting the words about.

Artwork for the logo can be downloaded from the Resource page.

Details of other fundraising can be found on the Fundrasing page.
